And so I walk in gratitude
It is not that I am trying to be polite
And well mannered
Saying “thank you” and “please”
It is not like that
Not at all
Gratitude spills forth, literally
When I’m in this state of grace
When Love is
I want to open my arms, hold them up
And sing my thanks
Thanks for the clear sky, the blue
Thanks for the warmth of dear sun
Gratitude for the green trees, those palms
Gratitude for feeling so grateful!
Gratitude is a state of Grace, i don’t make it up
Or will myself to write a thank-you-list
It is just there, naturally
This joyful gratitude
Grateful for the rain, even when the water floods my house
Grateful for the ocean, even when it eats away the beach
Grateful that no one wants to buy my piano
So I can play on it some more
Thank you for the hunger pangs
This makes me really feel my body
Thank you for no money in my pockets
This keeps me humble
You think I make this up?
Well, I’m not a fool
I know whats real
I know whats not
Gratitude spills forth
It lives in my chest, my heart
It is the younger cousin of Love, I guess
They are from the same tribe
Gratitude is like this child at the beach
So free and out of bounds it makes me sing
And walk around with such a swing
A goody small upon my face
It is not ashamed to say “thank’s” three times in a row
When somebody does you a little favor
Gratitude is very generous
In its reciprocity
It wants to reach our, wants to pay it forward
Everything that is given to you, it wants to pass it on
Thats how she is
Dear gratitude
Thank you
(For you)
