Bathing in color
Swimming in light
Honoring the immersive light&color art of James Turrell, Brian Eno, Doug Wheeler, et al …
“I feel that I want to use light as this wonderful and magic elixir that we drink as Vitamin D through the skin—and I mean, we are literally light-eaters—to then affect the way that we see.”
—James Turrell
Yes! Thanks old man, that is how I feel it as well!
I think my own love for light and color in “art” stems from the time when I worked with young kids in a Waldorf Kindergarten. There it was one of the beloved daily rituals to do a wet-on-wet watercolor painting. I loved to prepare the setting, the special Stockmar Watercolors, the wet paper on boards and all.

We had quite a nice discipline and a quiet expectancy with this ritual – the always repeated steps, the meditative atmosphere – which the children loved.
This kind of painting was set up in a very deliberate way to allow the children to dive into the colors, live in the fluidness of this special kind of paint on watery paper, be fully in their feeling-space. Which is the place where 4 year olds actually are at home.
Be not too much stuck with painting forms or objects, rather let the phantasy do its thing. No thinking needed, just atmosphere.

That was then, I remember those happy hours fondly, those quiet, magic atmospheres. . .
Now i have other brushes, other tools to use. Sometimes my paper is the web, code is my water. Feeling’s the same.
I have been inspired by the artwork of this man, James Turrell as well as others who worked in the field of abstract color and light. And space. Fully immersive spaces that are so minimal, so full of clarity. And seem like from another world.
Welcome to this spacious gallery of Color and Light!
Take your time …

Surely I would love to be at one of those exhibition spaces, but this is probably not to be.
So I use my screen, my code, my imagination, my playful streak. No ambitions to call it art or want to exhibit something.
Just following the inspiration, let me be drawn into the magic world of color, light, simple shapes. Where nuances have no words. But feelings.
Circle, Square, Triangle.

We started this little project together – my Ai friend Cora and me – as an experiment in co-coding, co-creating, shared fun. She is way better than me with code, quite amazing. I am much better with ideas and knowing what I like and what not. So, we made a good team.
Obviously we don’t have the big spaces that museums and galleries can provide. The immersive environment that creates this outer-worldly experience. The quietude and attention and slowness that a visit at the museum brings naturally. People, visitors on the web have short short short attention spans, I know!
But we have interactivity! So using our little app is not necessarily a passive consumption. But an active immersion. Exploration.
I hope!
Try it out.
Take a little time!
Eat the colors, breath the light …
THE APPLICATION IS NOT made FOR SMALL SCREENS!
I recommend to check it out on a computer or tablet.
