you’ve been dead

and gone now

for quite so long

or so it seems

but still you are here with me

in me

in all those qualities and values

you instilled

by being you

your humble nature and your care

your serving others

never putting yourself first

your empathy

your healing touch

your good will 

i know i didn’t always appreciate your unconditional love for me

i know i have not been there for you

the same as you were there for me

always

i am sorry about that

but then, in the end

i am happy we could share this special time

and a peaceful goodbye
