Honestly – I have been avoiding instagram.com like the plague, just like Facebook, twitter and X and all the rest of the bunch.

Mostly ;  )

 

But lately I have been looking into Instagram, because by chance i foundn that there are some really creative and inspiring crafty people exhibiting their creations.

 

Like that charming thing, for example >>

 

 

 

But 5 minutes of scrolling down the endless rabbit hole of instagram, and you are in a state of serious visual overload, by this onslaught of the good, the bad and the ugly things. All of them presented to with no context and seemingly no purpose but consumption.

 

But there I noticed this new trend that i have not seen before. Moving pictures.

Thanks to Generative AI, every picture can all of a sudden be transformed into a little 5 second moving … something. Very cute! Very meaningless too, i guess. A new toy.

My apologies, I should not be so critical! Some of it is quite interesting looking. And I guess we better get used to that new trend, because every fashion house is already jumping on the bandwagon to use such tricks for advertisement. And every Car brand as well. And sure the rest will follow soon.

 

 

 

Get ready for the weird and maybe not-so-wondeful world of visual metamorphosis.

 

 

 

Technically it’s very easy to produce such morphing effects on Generative AI sited like Midjourney or Stable Diffusion or even Instagram offers numerous templates of such one-click-wonders.

 

Now it’s 3 seconds videos, soon they will be 5 minutes long. Just provide a first frame (picture) and the last frame and the AI does all the rest in-between…

 

Uff!

 

The question remains: Where will be a soul in this great looking products, isn’t that what distinquishes art from everything else?

 

Yes, probably I am just a tiny little bit too critical 😹 

 

 

 

 

Now, i guess in the hands of some really talented visionary artist and filmmaker there could be actually some really weird and wonderful things coming our way!

Surely we will see what we will see when we see it. 🐸

For me, metamorphosis is a mystical alchemical process, even a mystery.

It is about the transformation of something existing into something new. Not only some animals can go thru a metamorphosis and radically transform, we humans can too—maybe not in terms of our physical form, but in a emotional, mental and spiritual sense.

For humans, the term metamorphosis is closely linked to the concept of self-realization, leaving the old skin of ego-identification behind.
