Connective Tissue
There is this wonderful thing
called fascia
it holds your body together
literally
and mine too
Fascia is the most abundant connective tissue in the body.
Its a continuous, three-dimensional network of fibrous material that surrounds and interpenetrates every muscle, bone, nerve, blood vessel, and organ. Fascia provides structural support, stabilizes body parts, and plays a critical role in proprioception and movement coordination. It is a dynamic, innervated, and mechanosensitive system crucial for structural integrity, force transmission, and sensory feedback.
The tissue contains an estimated 250 million nerve endings, making it more sensitive than skin.
Healthy fascia is slippery and flexible, allowing it to glide smoothly. However, factors like trauma, inflammation, or sedentary behavior can cause it to dry out, stiffen, and form adhesions, leading to restricted movement and pain syndromes.
